Looking back, few technologies disrupted the workplace as rapidly and irreversibly as email and the internet.
I was deep into building companies during that shift, leading teams, shipping software, and navigating a landscape where overnight, communication went from measured to instant.
Suddenly, anyone could reach anyone. A junior engineer could message the CEO. A project manager in Denver could collaborate in real time with a team in Tokyo.
It felt like magic. Until it didn’t.
Because with every leap forward, we had to learn the hard way how to manage what came next.
